Mais uma moedinha e mais uma voltinha: cá estou eu mais uma vez para falar-vos um pouco mais da nossa Europa.
Desta vez, após várias pesquisas - e o que tínhamos mais em atenção era o valor; tinha de ter várias belas praias; tinha de ser na mesma época de verão como em Portugal - decidimos escolher Palma de Maiorca.
Estávamos indecisos entre Palma de Maiorca e Tenerife, mas ganhou a primeira opção.
O meu namorado tem algumas árvores de fruta em casa e decidimos começar a vender laranjas e abacates para o pessoal do meu ginásio. Foi um sucesso e acarretámos cento e tal euros. Comprámos a viagem do dia 10 de junho até dia 16 e custou-nos quase cento e cinquenta euros para os dois. Claro, que este é um valor razoável porque comprámos a viagem em março e tínhamos que fazer escala tanto de ida como para a volta.
Depois, passado um mês escolhemos o hotel: queríamos dar prioridade à limpeza, localização e valores razoáveis. Foi um bocado complicado a escolha pois estes três filtros num só não é fácil de encontrar. Até que nos apareceu o "Mix Smart Hotel". Gostámos muito. Era em conta, tínhamos pequeno-almoço incluído e o feedback era ótimo. A única questão que eu não percebi inicialmente foi a de mencionarem "adults only"/ "só adultos". Sinceramente, achei que íamos para um hotel meio pervertido em que só queriam adultos e sabe-se lá porquê 😄, mas quando chegámos percebemos logo o porquê, pelo menos naquela zona no qual só existiam hotéis, todos tinham imensos miúdos às janelas a fazer barulho e festas no quarto. Daí só aceitarem adultos, para não partirem nada ahaha
Um aparte: quando a minha prima nos estava a levar para o aeroporto perguntou-nos se já tínhamos alugado um carro. Ela não estava à espera que a minha resposta fosse não. Sinceramente, achava que ia ficar caríssimo alugar um carro - nem pesquisei - e ela chamou-me maluca e tratou logo do assunto. Alugou no "Click Rent" e para uma semana pagámos 200€. Foi a melhor coisa que fizemos porque visitar a ilha sem carro ia ser impossível.
Chegámos ao aeroporto de Palma à noite por volta das 22:00h. Mal saímos do aeroporto, o que não falta são táxis e, portanto, foi muito fácil e rápida a chegada para o hotel. Demorámos meia hora. Íamos num táxi com o vidro partido, o taxista era muito brincalhão para as pessoas que já estavam a divertir-se na rua. Concluído: chegámos sãs e salvos. É o que importa.
Na manhã seguinte, a seguir ao pequeno-almoço, demos uma volta pela zona perto do hotel. Estávamos no S' Arenal. É uma zona bem turística, com muita comida, música e uma praia enorme e fantástica, mas cheia. Mas, o objetivo daquela manhã era chegar Cala Contensa. A viagem tinha duração de meia hora.
Pelo que percebi, a zona em que estávamos a pernoitar era uma zona com maioritariamente turistas alemães e do outro lado da ilha, era para onde costumam ir de férias os ingleses.
Conseguimos encontrar facilmente lugar para estacionar gratuitamente e quando chegámos à areia nem queríamos acreditar: a cala era linda! Areia branca, água cristalina e quentinha! Um sonho. Estávamos mesmo bem. Mas, como o objetivo era percorrer a ilha, à hora de almoço fomos para outra ali perto: Cala de Santa Ponça (20 minutos de carro). Mas, não gostámos. A água parecia estar suja e falta de cuidado no areal, pelas pessoas. Decidimos imediatamente aproveitar a tarde no centro de Palma de Maiorca.
Na manhã seguinte, começámos pela Playa Es Trenc (36 minutos de carro) e amámos!! Achei a praia ainda mais bonita do que a da manhã anterior. Mais uma vez, água quentinha e com vários tons de azul. Muito bonita, mesmo. Para estacionar na praia são 7,00€ o dia todo. E achámos muito engraçado o facto de que em Portugal vendem bolas de berlim na praia, e em Palma, vê-se vendedores com carrinhos ou cestos cheios de grandes fatias de melancia, ananás, manga e coco. As fatias eram grandes apesar de 5,00€ cada.
À hora de almoço tínhamos planeado visitar a Cala Pi. O meu namorado como detesta apanhar sol, sair nas horas de maior calor, era ótimo para ele. Já eu, fiquei com imensa pena de sair daquela praia. E, ainda fiquei com mais pena quando estávamos a chegar à Cala Des Moro e nos dizem que não podemos chegar ao nosso destino porque privatizaram a praia. As nossas escolhas para as tardes estavam a sair-nos furadas.
Já tinha ouvido falar da Cala Pi e lá fomos. Em termos de localização, não sei se é do meu Maps ou não, mas não foi fácil encontrá-la. Encontrámos um casal que também ia para a mesma Cala e fomos todos juntos. Achei o cenário muito bonito. Uma cala envolta de árvores e arbustos, mas a água estava cheia de musgo por isso mesmo. Também não ficámos muito tempo e fomos jantar e comer um gelado ali perto.
Em relação à comida, não sou muito fã da comida espanhola apesar de amigos falarem sempre bem. Acho que nada bate a gastronomia portuguesa.
No terceiro dia fomos para um dos pontos mais longe da ilha: Alcúdia. E que bela escolha! Demorámos quase uma hora de carro. Quando chegámos, obviamente que gastei imenso dinheiro em pulseiras e colares em várias lojas na mesma rua e todas a venderem o mesmo. Claro que com a sorte que tenho ao jogo - que é nenhuma - quando voltámos para perto do hotel, as lojas que tinham a mesma bijuteria, tinham valores muito inferiores.
Amei a praia de Alcúdia. Era enorme, areia branca, água limpa e com uma vista espetacular das montanhas à volta.
Alugámos um chapéu de sol com duas camas e ainda paguei para uma massagem de vinte minutos. Depois apercebi-me que a ideia da massagem foi péssima pois estava com um escaldão e por isso não estava a ser nada confortável.
No final do dia queríamos passar pela Plajita de Formentor, mas já era tarde e fizemos uma pesquisa rápida no qual mencionavam que pelo caminho íamos estar presentes em muitas curvas e contracurvas. Então, achámos melhor não.
Nessa noite, no hotel, vimos um filme e coincidência das coincidências, o filme como localização de rodagem, Palma de Maiorca.
No quarto dia fomos para a Cala Mondragó. O estacionamento também é pago - seis euros quem chega de manhã até ao final do dia - e a praia muito bonita também. Engraçado que nesta praia ouvimos muitas pessoas a falar português.
Nesta praia existe um caminho que decidimos averiguar e fomos dar a outra praia também com ótimo aspeto.
Passámos o dia todo nesta praia. Claro que alugar um chapéu de sol e duas camas fez toda a diferença, para melhor, claro.
Decidimos passar aqui o dia todo. Foi um ótimo plano para o dia.
Nessa noite fomos para o paredão de S'Arenal. Estava imensa gente na rua e a temperatura à noite era fantástica, como em todas as restantes noites.
No dia seguinte e último ficámos por S' Arenal que também era muito bem falado e apesar de ser frequentado por mais jovens com o objetivo de festas - ao contrário de nós que fomos somente com o objetivo de fazer praia, relaxar e descontrair.
A praia principal estava cheia, mas lá encontrámos um canto de baixo de uma palmeira - fantástico! - e a água estava ótima também. A seguir fomos almoçar e ainda comi outro gelado.
A seguir fomos relaxar para a varanda do hotel e como tínhamos de entregar o carro às 20:00h e era no aeroporto, decidimos ficar logo no aeroporto. Tínhamos voo antes das seis da manhã e não fazia sentido entregar o carro, voltar para o hotel de táxi e passado umas horas regressar novamente ao hotel. Poupámos dinheiro no táxi e (tentámos) dormir no aeroporto.
Resumindo e concluído, adorámos Palma de Maiorca. As pessoas são simpáticas e está tudo para o mesmo: diversão ou descanso. As praias são lindas e dá vontade de ficar ali o ano todo.
Em relação a valores, apesar o IVA ser mais baixo que em Portugal, os preços são os mesmos daqui.
"One more coin and one more turn": here I am again to tell you a bit more about our Europe.
This time, after several researches - and what we had most in mind was the value; it had to have several beautiful beaches; it had to be in the same summer season as in Portugal - we decided to choose Palma de Mallorca.
We were undecided between Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife, but the first option won.
My boyfriend has some fruit trees at home and we decided to start selling oranges and avocados to the people at my gym. It was a success and we raked in a hundred and something euros. We bought the trip from the 10th of June until the 16th and it cost us almost one hundred and fifty euros for the two of us. Of course, this is a reasonable amount because we bought the trip in March and we had to make a stopover both outward and return.
Then, after a month we chose the hotel: we wanted to prioritise cleanliness, location and reasonable values. It was a bit complicated to choose because these three filters in one are not easy to find. Then we came across the "Mix Smart Hotel". We liked it very much. It was affordable, breakfast was included and the feedback was great. The only issue I didn't understand initially was that they mentioned "adults only". Honestly, I thought we were going to some kind of perverted hotel where they only wanted adults and who knows why 😄, but when we arrived we immediately understood why, at least in that area in which there were only hotels, all had lots of kids at the windows making noise and partying in the room. That's why they only accept adults, so they don't break anything ahaha
An aside: when my cousin was taking us to the airport she asked us if we had already rented a car. She wasn't expecting my answer to be no. Honestly, I thought it would be really expensive to rent a car - I didn't even research - and she called me crazy and took care of it right away. She rented it from "Click Rent" and for a week we paid £200. It was the best thing we did because visiting the island without a car would have been impossible.
We arrived at Palma airport at night around 10pm. As soon as we left the airport, there was no shortage of taxis, so it was very easy and quick to get to the hotel. It took us half an hour. We were in a taxi with a broken window, the taxi driver was very playful for the people who were already having fun in the street. In conclusion: we arrived safe and sound. That's all that matters.
The next morning, after breakfast, we took a walk around the area near the hotel. We were in S' Arenal. It's a pretty touristy area, with lots of food, music and a huge, fantastic, but crowded beach. But, the goal that morning was to get to Cala Contensa. The trip was half an hour long.
From what I understood, the area where we were staying overnight was an area with mostly German tourists and on the other side of the island, was where the English usually go on holiday.
We easily found a free parking place and when we got to the sand we couldn't believe it: it was beautiful! White sand, crystal clear and warm water! A dream. We were really fine. But, as the goal was to walk around the island, at lunch time we went to another one nearby: Cala de Santa Ponça (20 minutes by car). But, we didn't like it. The water seemed dirty and there was a lack of care on the beach, by people. We immediately decided to enjoy the afternoon in the centre of Palma de Mallorca.
The next morning, we started at Playa Es Trenc (36 minutes drive) and loved it!!! I thought the beach was even more beautiful than the previous morning. Again, warm water and various shades of blue. Very beautiful indeed. To park on the beach it costs 7,00€ for the whole day. And we found very funny the fact that in Portugal they sell berlin balls on the beach, and in Palma, you see vendors with carts or baskets full of large slices of watermelon, pineapple, mango and coconut. The slices were large despite the fact that they cost €5.00 each.
At lunchtime we had planned to visit Cala Pi. As my boyfriend hates the sun, going out during the hottest hours was great for him. Me, I was really sorry to leave that beach. And I was even more sorry when we were arriving at Cala Des Moro and we were told that we could not reach our destination because they privatized the beach. Our choices for the afternoons were coming up short.
I had heard of Cala Pi and off we went. In terms of location, I don't know if it's from my Maps or not, but it wasn't easy to find. We found a couple who were also going to the same Cala and we all went together. I found the scenery very beautiful. A cala surrounded by trees and bushes, but the water was full of moss for that very reason. We didn't stay long either and went for dinner and an ice cream nearby.
As for the food, I'm not a big fan of Spanish food although friends always speak well of it. I don't think anything beats Portuguese gastronomy.
On the third day we went to one of the furthest points of the island: Alcúdia. And what a beautiful choice! It took us almost an hour by car. When we arrived, I obviously spent a lot of money on bracelets and necklaces in several shops in the same street and all selling the same thing. Of course, with my luck at the game - which is none - when we got back to the hotel, the shops that had the same jewellery, had much lower prices.
I loved Alcúdia beach. It was huge, white sand, clean water and with a spectacular view of the mountains around it.
We rented a sun hat with two beds and I even paid for a twenty minute massage. Then I realised that the massage idea was a bad one as I was scalded and so not being comfortable at all.
At the end of the day we wanted to go through the Plajita de Formentor, but it was already late and we did a quick survey in which they mentioned that on the way we would be present in many curves and counter-curves. So we thought it better not.
That night, at the hotel, we watched a movie and coincidence of coincidences, the movie as the shooting location, Palma de Mallorca.
On the fourth day we went to Cala Mondragó. Parking is also paid - six euros who arrive in the morning until the end of the day - and the beach very nice too. Funny that on this beach we heard many people speaking Portuguese.
On this beach there is a path that we decided to check out and we went to another beach that also looks great.
We spent the whole day on this beach. Of course, renting a sun hat and two beds made all the difference, for the better.
We decided to spend the whole day here. It was a great plan for the day.
That night we went to the S'Arenal wall. There were lots of people on the street and the temperature at night was fantastic, like every other night.
The next and last day we stayed at S' Arenal which was also very well spoken and although it was frequented by younger people with the aim of partying - unlike us who went only for the beach, relaxing and unwinding.
The main beach was crowded, but there we found a corner under a palm tree - fantastic! - and the water was great too. Then we went for lunch and I had another ice cream.
Then we relaxed on the hotel balcony and as we had to deliver the car at 8pm and it was at the airport, we decided to stay right at the airport. We had a flight before six in the morning and it didn't make sense to return the car, go back to the hotel by taxi and after a few hours go back to the hotel again. We saved money on the taxi and (tried) to sleep at the airport.
In short and in conclusion, we loved Palma de Mallorca. The people are friendly and it's all for the same: fun or rest. The beaches are beautiful and it makes you want to stay there all year round.
Regarding values, although the VAT is lower than in Portugal, the prices are the same here.
